Summary:

This constituency in west London, where incomes are on average modest and with many streets of terraced and semi-detached homes, has had a Labour MP since it was created in 1983.

Virendra Sharma became the MP in a by-election in 2007.

Over the years, he built up his majority, winning by 16,084 in 2019 at the end of the Jeremy Corbyn era.

This majority was down from Mr Sharma’s 22,090 at Theresa May’s snap June 2017 poll.

Mr Sharma, 77, is among a number of senior Labour MPs who have stood down at this election.
