This comes just over a year after the former Lifetime Head of Unscripted launched UNConventional at Sony Pictures Television.

At the end of last year, McCarthy announced her first series order; Hallmark Media greenlit Celebrations with Lacy Chabert, starring and exec produced by the Mean Girls star, which will launch on the network’s streaming service later this year.

UNConventional focuses on lifestyle and factual entertainment formats across relationships, home, food, survival, Americana, competition, and crime.

She has also sold projects to networks including Lifetime, weTV, TLC, OWN and Paramount+.

McCarthy previously spent ten years at A+E Networks, where she was EVP and Head of Programming at Lifetime Unscripted and Head of Programming at FYI. Before that, she had been at Discovery Channel and weTV.

She has worked on shows including Married At First Sight, Project Runway and Dance Moms as well as Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters and Deadliest Catch.

“I’m thrilled to be represented by the talented team at Buchwald,” McCarthy said. “We look forward to bringing many new and exciting projects to the market with them as we build and expand on our first year’s momentum.”
