GE15: Remember cancelled projects when BN wasn’t in power, Zahid reminds Bagan Datuk voters

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 — Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman and Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi urged voters in Bagan Datuk to remember the projects that were cancelled when the coalition wasn’t in power.

“Our ‘enemies’ have appeared again in Bagan Datuk to spread political provocation as Election Day approaches.

“However, let us remember those development projects that were cancelled when they were in power,” said Zahid in a Facebook post today.

He said that he has never taken his constituents for granted and was aware of his responsibilities required to repay their trust from the moment he became their MP for the first time.

The incumbent Bagan Datuk MP then pointed out that he had brought to the area development projects worth RM236.69 million during his multiple terms, including the construction of the Mara Junior Science College, Bagan Datuk Bridge and Bagan Datuk Sports Complex.

He also listed the projects that he claimed were cancelled when BN’s “enemies” were in power, including a people’s housing project, a local community college and an industrial park.

“All these projects that they cancelled after the 14th general election would have raised the economic status of Bagan Datuk to a new level.

“And they would have opened up many job opportunities for local residents and improved living standards,” he added.

Zahid, who has been the Bagan Datuk MP for six terms, is seeking re-election on Saturday.

In the previous general election in 2018, he successfully defended his seat with a 5,073-vote majority against challengers Pakhrurrazi Arshad from Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Ata Abdul Muneim Hasan Adli from PAS.

In this general election, Zahid is in a four-cornered fight against Perikatan Nasional’s Muhammad Faiz Na’aman, PH’s Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar, and independent candidate Tawfik Ismail who is the son of late deputy prime minister Tun Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman.
