Gary Chaw and Taiwanese fashion blogger wife announce divorce after 14 years of marriage
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 — A month after revealing he was in a cold war with his wife, Malaysian singer Gary Chaw announced on Saturday (Nov 26) he has divorced from Taiwanese fashion blogger Wu Shuling.
The couple had been married for 14 years and have a 14-year-old son, Joe, and a 12-year-old daughter, Grace, 8days reported.
While Chaw, 43, announced the news via his Instagram, Wu, also 43, announced the matter via a statement through her manager.
In their joint statement, the couple said there have been many beautiful memories during their marriage.
"In the second half of our marriage, we were frequently unable to understand each other, which led to much soul-searching,” they said.
However, they emphasised that "no one was right or wrong" and that they had "worked hard together in this marriage and the 14 years in each other’s life cannot be erased.”
In her statement, Wu said ending the marriage was a new beginning for them. "We'll continue to care for each other as friends!"
She also urged social media users to show them more support and encouragement instead of criticism, and thanked everyone for their concern.
Chaw, from Kota Belud, Sabah, also thanked everyone for their concern through his manager.
