JOHOR BARU, March 10 — A total of 1,191 food outlets nationwide have registered under the Rahmah Menu Initiative introduced by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, said Deputy Minister Fuziah Salleh.

She said the number is expected to increase with the expansion of the Rahmah Menu at Ramadan bazaars soon, and did not include food premises in 125 rest and recreation (RnR) areas across the country.

“We expect food premises that provide the Rahmah Menu to increase, but they will not be registered on its official website.

“We hope that the traders involved can register with us as it will indirectly be able to provide the publicity for their business, in addition to using the special Rahmah Menu logo,” said Fuziah to reporters today.

She had earlier launched the Rahmah Kasih Sayang Food Truck Fiesta at Angsana Mall in Tampoi here.

The fest, which starts from today to Sunday, involves 50 food truck operators offering their Rahmah Menu at RM5 and below.

On the registration drive, Fuziah said the ministry did not set any targets due to it being a private-driven initiative.

She explained that food operators who participated did so voluntarily.

Meanwhile, in conjunction with the Rahmah Sale, Fuziah said the ministry also provided an e-wallet allocation of RM11,500 for the food truck operators and early visitors.

“The Retail Sector Digitisation Initiative (ReDi) aims to encourage traders and visitors to make cashless payment transactions.

“A total of RM30 is offered to merchants and RM20 to consumers via the e-wallets to encourage retailers, merchants and also consumers to carry out cashless sales transactions,” she said, adding that the initiative is considered an improvement from the previous programmes.
