KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 — The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) received a furry visitor over the weekend.

This was in the form of a monkey that was spotted wandering near one of the top panes of the airport’s Terminal 1.

Its antics were duly recorded and uploaded on social media where it was also shared on Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad’s (MAHB) Facebook page at around 2pm on July 29.

The page’s admin also asked passengers to remain calm.

“Poor buddy! Must be feeling completely overwhelmed! Hang in there! We are getting the abang specialists from The Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) to rescue you!

“To all passengers at KLIA T1, our airport team is on ground to monitor the situation.

“Please stay calm and do not worry. Help is on the way for our little lost friend,” MAHB wrote in the post.

At around 6.30pm the same day, MAHB posted an update on the monkey situation, clarifying that it has been rescued by Perhilitan members.

Although there were no photos of the rescued monkey, they did share photos of the ‘rescue mission’ with Perhilitan members spotted using a lifter to get to the monkey.

Some bananas and papaya were also used to persuade the anthropoid.

“Our furry friend has been saved! Thank you abam Perhilitan for being heroes of the day! This little guy can now go home to his family safely.

“What an adventure he must have had. Many thanks to the airport team too for staying vigilant and ensuring the safety of passengers throughout the commotion,” they wrote in another Facebook post.

The video has been viewed over 4,000 times since it was posted.

Local Facebook users in the comment section were relieved by the success of the rescued mission with some poking jokes on the whole situation.

“He wants to travel I guess,” commented user Sabrena Khan.

“Now this is why it’s called ‘The airport in the forest and the forest in the airport’.” commented user Azad Azmeer Aznan.
