Funnel Cloud Seen as Storm System Hits Central Illinois
A storm system caused damage in central Illinois on Tuesday, January 3, reports from local media and the National Weather Service (NWS) said.
Footage recorded by Michelle Russell shows a funnel cloud near Maroa, Illinois, on Tuesday afternoon. The NWS said the funnel cloud was seen west of Maroa at 4:36 local time.
A tornado warning was in place for the area at this time.
Funnel clouds were also seen in Decatur, Mount Auburn, Latham and Illiopolis, the NWS said. A team from the weather service was going to assess the damage, the NWS said. Credit: Michelle Russell via Storyful
