Filipina Dota 2 stack Terminator have been crowned as the champions of the FSL Dota 2 Open III after they capped a dominant run throughout the entire tournament with a 2-1 victory over Foxy Gaming in the grand finals on Sunday (28 November).

Terminator were no strangers to the FSL Dota 2 circuit, as four of its players — "Ligaya", "Gill", "Meeri", and "Hezelya" — were members of the Bren Esports and Jiarmy rosters that won the FSL Dota 2 Open I and Open II tournaments in May and August, respectively.

Terminator were one of the four teams that qualified for the FSL Open III playoffs out of the eight-team group stage alongside Foxy Gaming, Pacific Pink, and ok. Foxy Gaming defeated Pacific Pink, 2-1, while Terminator swept ok, 2-0, to set up the best-of-three grand finals.

Terminator started the series strong, routing Foxy Gaming in 38 minutes with a strong midgame line-up of Wraith King for Gill, Death Prophet for Meeri, Sand King for Hezelya, Mirana for Ligaya, and Ogre Magi for "Sashamae".

While the team fights were somewhat close, Terminator outmaneuvered and out-farmed their opponents to build a 33,000 gold lead by the time Foxy Gaming called GG.

Foxy Gaming managed to bounce back in game two behind a late game line-up anchored by Medusa for carry player "Nana". Terminator fell behind early on and were unable to shut down Nana's Medusa, who was left free to farm up and lead her team to a 45-minute victory that sent the series to a deciding third game.

With the championship on the line, Terminator managed to outlast Foxy Gaming in a 69-minute marathon in game three. Foxy Gaming were in control early into the game, as Nana on Terrorblade looked to once again lead her team to a late game victory.

However, Terminator were able to score huge pickoffs in the crucial midgame clashes, which gave them map control control and space for Gill's Luna to out-farm her counterpart.

Foxy Gaming put up an impressive defense of their base to stall the game out to well over the hour mark, though Terminator were left free to build up a gold lead that rose as high as 55,000 gold as a result.

Despite Foxy Gaming's best efforts to defend, Terminator's gold lead was simply too much to overcome as the latter finally broke through just before the game hit the 70-minute mark.

With their victory, Terminator claimed the grand prize of SG$300 while Foxy Gaming settled for SG$150 in consolation.

This is Foxy Gaming's third second place finish in an FSL Dota 2 Open tournament this year. Meanwhile, Pacific Pink and ok both took home S$50 to round out the tournament's Top 4.
