Friends Huddle for Safety as Hail Smashes Car Windows in Alberta
Large hailstones damaged vehicles near Red Deer in central Alberta on Monday, August 1, local media citing authorities reported.
Video recorded by Gibran Marquez Cedillo shows himself and two friends huddle for safety as enormous hailstones batter their vehicle, shattering the windscreen and side windows. Grapefruit-sized hail was reported in the region.
Cedillo told Storyful the ordeal lasted 17 minutes and that he and the other passengers in the vehicle, John Tezcan and Karlee Bertsch, were “fearing for [their] lives” after receiving a text from authorities issuing a tornado watch in the region.
Cedillo told Storyful the vehicle, which belonged to Bertsch and was a “complete write-off”. Credit: Gibran Marquez Cedillo via Storyful
