Fresh Evacuations, But Rain Helps Efforts Against Colorado's Ptarmigan Fire

Fresh evacuation orders were issued for Summit County, Colorado, on September 28, as the Ptarmigan Fire grew to between 85 and 100 acres. Firefighters said, however, that rain was helping to moderate the fire activity.

The Summit Fire and EMS said aircraft were being used to help stop “the fire from moving downhill towards structures”; however, there was no containment reported.
