French street artist brings 'human chain' to Venice

STORY: The French-Swiss graffiti artist Saype's 'Beyond Walls' series depicts a close-up of two people's hands gripping each other.

It is part of the artist's global project he hopes will foster unity in an increasingly polarized world.

Using biodegradable paints made from natural pigments such as coal and chalk, the giant land painting of interlocked hands, one wearing bracelets, covers an 8x30 meters barge.

The artwork will be unveiled at the opening of Saype's exhibition on Thursday (April 21) at 2022 Biennale international art exhibition.

Saype has previously been named one of the most influential young artists by Forbes Magazine thanks to his Beyond Walls project.
