Jeff Bezos' surprise move to step down as chief executive of Amazon.com Inc quashed Wall Street optimism about bumper quarterly results, but analysts were upbeat on the promotion of its cloud computing head to the top job. Andy Jassy has long been considered a strong contender for the top job since Amazon.com Inc created two CEO roles in 2016 reporting to Bezos, the other held by recently retired consumer CEO Jeff Wilke. However, few were expecting Bezos to step down when the company on Tuesday reported sales above $100 billion for the first time in a hugely successful year delivering goods in the coronavirus pandemic.
Australian Open lead-up events faced disruption on Thursday after a hotel quarantine worker in Melbourne tested positive for the novel coronavirus, prompting the government to ask those staying in the hotel to isolate. Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews said Thursday's play at the six warm-up events at Melbourne Park is set to be affected as 500-600 Australian Open players, officials and support staff will go into isolation. "At this stage there is no impact on the tournament proper," Andrews said at a news conference late on Wednesday.

Rambo the Cavalier King Charles loves nothing more than to play with his best buddy Samson the giant Newfoundland. Today the game is fetch and they both love love this game, even when they both have to fight over who gets the toy. They play very fair and nice today. Mom decided to give them treats and they get even more excited! She gets Rambo to circle for the treat but Samson decides it’s not worth the effort. Thankfully mom gives in anyway. Too cute!

As deaths from the coronavirus pandemic mount in Indonesia, the capital city's graveyards are expanding to keep up. Struggling since last March to get the coronavirus under control in the world's fourth most populous nation, Indonesia has now surpassed one million confirmed cases and more than 30,000 deaths, the highest in Southeast Asia. Ivan Nurcahyo, a spokesman for the Jakarta parks agency, said six new graveyard locations had been added in various areas across the city, with three already in use.
U.S. President Joe Biden paid his respects late Tuesday night to the police officer killed in the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol last month.In a solemn ceremony, Brian Sicknick's cremated ashes were placed in the Capitol Rotunda, set to remain there in honor until midday Wednesday.The president and First Lady Jill Biden stood before the remains with their hands over their hearts in silent tribute to Sicknick.One by one the officer's fellow Capitol Police officers approached the receptacle and saluted.Democratic and Republican leaders of U.S. Congress also filed into the Rotunda for the ceremony.Among them were top Democrats, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.In a joint statement announcing the ceremony last week, they said, "The heroism of Officer Sicknick and the Capitol Police force during the violent insurrection against our Capitol helped save lives, defend the temple of our democracy and ensure that the Congress was not diverted from our duty to the Constitution."Sicknick died last month as hundreds of former U.S. President Donald Trump's supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol.His father said Sicknick was pepper-sprayed and hit in the head. He was resuscitated twice in an ambulance, but died the next day.No charges have been brought in the case.The riot led to Trump's second impeachment and next week, he'll face trial in the Senate on a charge of inciting insurrection.
