Frances Bean Cobain Married Riley Hawk — with R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe Officiating

Frances Bean Cobain and Riley Hawk are married!
Per documents obtained by TMZ, the pair obtained a marriage license the month before their nuptials in San Diego County. PEOPLE confirmed the news on Tuesday via a representative for champion skateboarder Tony Hawk, Riley's father.
The marriage certificate obtained by TMZ lists the couple's wedding date as Oct. 7, with the ceremony officiated by R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe, who is Frances’ godfather.
The 31-year-old daughter of Courtney Love and late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain revealed her romance with pro skateboarder Riley, 30, last year.

After taking a year-long break from social media, Frances returned to Instagram in January 2022 and shared a carousel of images of moments she said had “brought me a great amount of joy” — including glimpses of her relationship with Riley.
Among the series of snaps, Riley could be seen flashing a big smile while holding a dog dressed in a Christmas-themed costume. In another shot, Frances and Riley cozied up to one another on a boat with his dad Tony and his stepmom Catherine Goodman.
"I took a year long break from posting on Instagram which was exceptionally good for my mental, emotional & spiritual health," Frances captioned the carousel. "2021 brought me more into the present moment than I've ever been, which I'm deeply grateful for."

She continued, "I wanted to share a few moments that were captured / created this past year that brought me a great amount of joy. Here's to hoping everyone's 2022 is filled with the authentic connections, a lot of warmth & profound discovery of self 🥂 happy new year 🎆."
Frances was previously married to Isaiah Silva for 21 months after they tied the knot in June 2014.

PEOPLE confirmed in 2016 that she had filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. According to documents obtained by PEOPLE at the time, Frances stated that Silva should not be entitled to any money from her father's estate, which was valued at $450 million.
The former couple ended up fighting over ownership of Kurt's iconic guitar, which Frances subsequently lost to Silva in the divorce settlement.
