France Bans Gatherings Of More than 5,000 as New Cases of Coronavirus Announced

France’s government announced new measures on February 29 to combat the spread of the coronavirus, including the cancellation of a half-marathon in Paris and a ban on gatherings of more than 5,000 people in confined environments.

The announcements came following an extraordinary meeting of the French cabinet, and as the government announced new cases of the coronavirus, taking the total number of cases to 73, Le Monde and others reported.
