More than three dozen Republicans voted against Trump’s legislative agenda earlier this week and Fox News is having absolutely none of it.

Network host Maria Bartiromo seemed to fume over the topic as she broached it with the Republican president-elect’s incoming press secretary Karline Leavitt in an interview on Sunday Morning Futures.

“After this weekend’s drama over the continuing resolution where several Republicans voted against the Trump-backed plan initially, how much confidence should we have that the GOP can unite, and agree on the agenda, and President Trump’s nominees?” Bartiromo said.

She then asked Leavitt directly, “Can you answer that question? You saw all the drama over the weekend, why should we believe that Republicans are gonna stay united when in fact 38 of them this weekend voted against Trump’s agenda?”

Perhaps conscious of some of the terseness behind Bartiromo’s question, Leavitt quickly deflected, praising the president-elect for having put together a “brilliant team.”

She did however conclude by mentioning that “four years ago, not a single Democrat voted against any one of Joe Biden’s picks for his Cabinet,” and that “Republicans need to follow suit–they need to get tough, they need to get smart.”

Leavitt then added, “When you look at the exceptional qualifications of these individuals, there’s no reason that a single Republican should vote against them. Let’s confirm them so that President Trump can get to work ushering his agenda through the federal government and also on capitol hill.”

Bold words, from the woman who not yesterday was forced to issue a statement insisting that Trump, and not his newfound éminence grise Elon Musk, is actually in charge of the GOP.
