During a midnight release party for the third book in the Empyrean series on Monday, Jan. 20, author Rebecca Yarros gave fans a glimpse of what to expect as her 2023 novel is being adapted into a television series.
"So I've read two versions of the script now and it is... Oh my God," Yarros told fans, according to a clip posted on TikTok from the Onyx Storm release event.
"And I was scared, I was super scared to read it, because I think when you hand somebody your baby and you say, 'Tell me what you think is important in here,' you're kind of like, 'It's all important,' and I kicked my feet the entire time."

"I love it," Yarros continued, praising Anne with an E creator Moira Walley-Beckett, who Variety announced in July had been tapped as showrunner for the series, as "amazing."
"Moira's done such an amazing job capturing everyone's voice and the dialogue that you guys love and just the energy and spirit of the book that I am ... I could not be any happier," she said. "It's amazing."

Since Walley-Beckett was confirmed as the showrunner last year, Yarros has not been shy about her excitement to see what the Breaking Bad writer comes up with. In a December post from a book signing event, she called her "brilliant" as she told fans: "The Fourth Wing show is in the BEST hands with her! She’s exceptional and really knows and loves the same things about the series that you do!"
Walley-Beckett said it was a "thrill" to join the author and experience the "incredible fandom" in person in a comment. "I'm so excited to walk side by side together into Fourth Wing the series! 🐉 ."
