KUALA TERENGGANU, Jan 12 (Bernama) -- Former Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) player Syamiru Aiman Bidin who had been suffering from head cancer, died at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) here at 11.48 am today.
Terengganu Hockey Association (PHT) deputy president Mohd Fikri Harun said the passing of the 27-year-old was a major loss to the sport, especially in Terengganu, where he had shown a high commitment on and off the pitch throughout his career.
He said Syamiru Aiman had donned the THT jersey from 2013 to 2016 and joined the state team for the Malaysian Games (SUKMA) in 2014.
"He was a very dedicated player and his passion for hockey was well known," he said when contacted by Bernama today.
Mohd Fikri said Syamiru Aiman’s remains would be buried at the Kampung Kua Muslim Cemetery in Kuala Berang after Asar prayers.
"I hope that hockey fans around the country will pray for his soul to be blessed and placed among the righteous," he added.
