Former Prime Minister David Cameron questioned over lobbying

David Cameron faced questions from two separate Commons committee hearings over the lobbying scandal. The former prime minister was grilled on Thursday over his efforts to secure government loans for the now collapsed finance firm Greensill Capital. He insisted that there was “absolutely no wrongdoing” on his part. Mr Cameron sent dozens of messages to ministers, the civil service and Bank of England - asking to be accepted in the coronavirus support payment scheme, including Chancellor Rishi Sunak. He expressed his regret over sending multiple messages. This is the first time he has questioned in public since the lobbying scandal broke.
