Former boyfriend charged with 2005 Australia murder
STORY: The 42-year-old man whom Australian media identified as Tobias Friedrich Moran and formerly known as Tobias Suckfuell, arrived in Sydney on Wednesday after being extradited from Perth following his arrest on Tuesday (July 26). He was charged with murder and acting with intent to pervert the course of justice, according to court documents. Moran did not appear in court via video-link on Thursday (July 28) and will apply for bail next week, authorities said.
Strobel, a 25-year-old German school teacher, was last seen in Lismore on February 11, 2005 after a night out with Moran, her then-boyfriend, and friends. Her body was discovered six days later, concealed under palm fronds.
Australian police said on Thursday (July 28) that they were talking with German authorities about arrest warrants for two more people who were travelling with Strobel, and that investigations are ongoing.
