Footage Captures Initial Moments of Kilauea Volcano's Eruption on Hawaii's Big Island

New vents of the Kilauea volcano’s eruption on Hawaii’s Big Island were captured by footage taken on the afternoon of Thursday, September 29, according to the United States Geological Survey.

This video released by the USGS shows a vent on the west wall of the crater over an hour after the initial vents appeared on the central crater floor, they wrote in a tweet.

The new activity on Thursday was the volcano’s first eruption since May 26, 2021.
