Florida pets take center stage at costume competition

STORY: The contest was the highlight of the Fantasy Fest costume and masking festival which kicked off on October 21.

This year it was themed “Cult Classics & Cartoon Chaos.”

Furry contestants spoofing the 1988 film “Beetlejuice” walked on stage, followed by a lion tamer and her canine “lion,” two pirate pooches and an Italian greyhound costumed as the late rock star Prince.

Other notable entries included a family of Minions, mermaids, pirates, care bears, unicorns and pandas.

The Fantasy Fest, which features dozens of costume-themed events and competitions, runs through Sunday, October 30.
