Hawaii’s Honolulu and Kauai counties were placed under a flash flood watch on Monday, March 8, as heavy rainfall inundated the region overnight, footage taken on March 9 shows.
Video shared by Instagram user @jaydenganon shows floodwaters submerging a mail truck parked on the street. “It was raining all night and when we woke up the streets were just filled with water and rivers were overflowing,” he told Storyful.
The Honolulu Department of Emergency Management extended the flash flood warning for Oahu into Tuesday afternoon as public road closures and landslides were expected.
