Floodwater unleashed by two dam failures in Midland County, Michigan, on Tuesday, May 19, washed out a stretch of bridge over the Tittabawassee River.
This video, filmed by Scott Taylor, shows the washed-out Curtis Road bridge and the Tittabawassee River on Wednesday. In the video, Taylor says, “the water ran right through the house” as he surveys damage and debris across a property in Sanford, Michigan.
Michigan Gov Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency for Midland County on Tuesday and encouraged residents to evacuate or relocate to local shelters.
“This is unlike anything we’ve seen in Midland County. If you have a family member or loved one who lives in another part of the state, go there now,” Whitmer said in a press release.
