Floods displace millions in northern India

With their homes inundated and property damaged due to heavy flooding triggered by monsoon rains, villagers were left with no option but to flee their homes.

Flood-hit victims in the state's Gorakhpur city were seen taking shelters on higher grounds with their cattle in makeshift tents alongside roads.

Victims on Thursday (September 09) said they were starving and were waiting to receive aid from the government.
