Floats Spotted in New York as Prep Gets Underway for Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Floats were spotted on New York’s 34th Street as preparations for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade were underway, video posted to Instagram on November 24 shows.

Macy’s official account shared videos of rehearsals on November 23, including Jimmy Fallon and The Roots and The Rockettes.

The event – complete with its trademark balloons, floats, and live performances – will go on for the 94th consecutive year with some adjustments made necessary by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In order to avoid gathering large crowds, the annual production will forgo marching down the traditional 2.5-mile route in Manhattan. Instead it will be reimagined over the course of several days as a television-only event leading up to the live Thanksgiving Day broadcast that will feature the breadth of Macy’s signature elements,” the department store chain said in a statement on their website.

Reports said some of the elements of the broadcast, including some performances, will be pre-taped. Credit: @lovejones__6 via Storyful
