STORY: Float builders are gearing up for NYC Pride
Robert DeVito’s company is
putting the finishing touches
Location: Clifton, New Jersey
on 30 floats for the upcoming march
It has built creations for the
parade since its inception in 1970
ROBERT DEVITO, OWNER, BOND PARADE FLOATS AND DISPLAYS INC.:
"It started out as a small parade. Five floats, to be exact, that year. And it's morphed into the biggest parade in New York City. It's morphed into our biggest parade. I mean, this is THE week."
There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes
DeVito says some of designs
started as early as January
His float for the British consulate
will have 100 people marching nearby

"I think it's important to recognize that now more than ever, we need to come together and, and defend basic human rights. And that, that's the case for the LGBTQ plus community. It's also the case for partners in Ukraine. And, and so it's really important that we come together and we, we celebrate and we recognize that this is an important moment."
