'Flight Risk': Watch an exclusive trailer for Mark Wahlberg's new movie
In case you've wondered what it might be like to be trapped in a small plane with a psychotic pilot, "Flight Risk" is here to help you live through that nightmare − in real time.
Clocking in at a taut 91 minutes, director Mel Gibson ("Hacksaw Ridge") weaves a tale of a government witness (Topher Grace) being escorted by an FBI agent (Michelle Dockery) on a flight piloted by a hitman (Mark Wahlberg). Airborne mayhem ensues.
The movie arrives in theaters Jan. 24, and USA TODAY has the exclusive new "Flight Risk" trailer.

“It’s a tight thriller happening in real time," Gibson says in a statement, calling the film an experience "that exploits the viewer’s id through fear of flying."
A typically buff Wahlberg opted to play vastly against type in "Flight Risk," shaving his head daily for his role as balding psycho Daryl Booth.
Says Gibson: “It’s about Mark letting his dark side out in between running his empire and eating lunch with his kids. He is a multi-dimensional performer who has managed to find the essence of a deranged, bald-headed sociopath.”
Wahlberg clearly had fun. "I loved the chance to play a totally crazy villain again and this movie delivers on every level," he says in a statement.
The movie's screenplay was written some years ago by Jared Rosenberg, and in 2020 was voted among Hollywood's most-liked unproduced scripts, according to the Black List, an online hub for screenwriters.
