A severe thunderstorm brought heavy rainfall and large hailstones to the New South Wales outback city of Broken Hill on January 2, leaving multiple properties damaged.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning for most of western New South Wales on January 2 with the possibility of large hailstones, heavy rainfall, and damaging winds. Up to 14 millimetres of rain was recorded over a 24-hour period from 9 am on January 2, weather officials said.
