We're only two episodes into ITV's new mystery drama Flesh and Blood, but viewers are already full of theories.

Tuesday's episode (February 25) ended on a dramatic cliffhanger as Vivien's (Francesca Annis) car was set on fire by an unknown perpetrator – but viewers think they know exactly who did it.

Towards the end of the episode, Vivien and her adult children were spending time together on the beach after finding out that she'd married her new partner Mark (Stephen Rea).

As Jake (Russell Tovey), Helen (Claudia Blakley) and Natalie (Lydia Leonard) confronted their mum about her shock marriage, Mark runs back out screaming that the car he'd bought for her had been set on fire.

Their nosy neighbour Mary (Imelda Staunton) watched on in horror as the car burned and eventually exploded, but viewers reckon she's most likely the culprit.

"I bet Mary lit the car to prove he ain't paid for it!" tweeted one viewer, while another wrote: "Did Mary torch the car, or is that too obvious?"

"The cars is on fire? Wtf Neighbour Mary!" added one detective viewer.

Fans also think Mary may be responsible for an even bigger crime, as it was revealed in the first episode that the events are actually taking place in retrospect, following a bloody crime that hasn't yet been fully revealed.

Is Mary more perturbed by Vivien and Mark's union than the three children and taken matters into her own hands? Or is that just what we're meant to think?

Flesh and Blood continues tonight (February 26) at 9pm on ITV.
