Jelly's wife, Bunnie Xo, recently revealed the country star left social media because he was "so tired of being bullied" about his weight
Flavor Flav doesn't want to see any negativity toward Jelly Roll.
After the 39-year-old country star's wife, Bunnie Xo, recently revealed he left social media due to feeling "so tired of being bullied" about his weight, Flav posted a video in his defense to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, April 24.
"How dare y’all try to judge my man about his weight and his character? Let me tell you something, this man is winning awards for his music," said the Public Enemy rapper, 65. "This man’s music has been giving a lot of people hope that's stranded in the streets, locked up in jail, people that's on drugs, you know what I'm saying?"
"On a personal note, Jelly Roll is one of the nicest, I mean, one of the absolute nicest men on the planet that y'all would ever wanna know, and a lot of people would love to be like Jelly Roll," added Flav.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member continued, "All of y’all that's trying to judge my boy Jelly Roll, I think y’all need to take a step back and judge yourselves, 'cause y'all judging him is not gonna stop him from being successful."
Bunnie, 44, spoke about Jelly's decision to leave social media on a recent episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast.
"My husband got off the internet because he is so tired of being bullied about his f---ing weight, and that makes me want to cry, because he is the sweetest angel baby," she said in a clip shared to her TikTok account. "My husband doesn’t show it to you guys, but I’m going to have a very vulnerable moment here. It hurts him."
"The internet can say whatever the f--- they want about you and they say, ‘You’re a celebrity. You’re supposed to be able to handle it.’ No the f--- we’re not," Bunnie added. "Enough is enough."
"Don’t bully people, because you never know where they are mentally. There are a lot of people who are not as strong as me, that are on the internet, and they don’t deserve to f---in’ be bullied," she continued.
Jelly recently opened up to PEOPLE about embarking on a health journey in preparation for the 2 Bears 5K with Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on May 7.
"I'm probably down 70-something pounds," he said. "I've been really kicking ass, man. I'm doing two to three miles a day, four to six days a week. I'm doing 20 to 30 minutes in the sauna, six minutes in a cold plunge every day. I'm eating healthy right now."
The "Need a Favor" singer spoke proudly about his progress and expressed determination toward continuing the lifestyle shift. "I feel really good," said Jelly. "I was thinking, I plan on losing another 100, 100-and-something [pounds]. If I feel this good down this weight, man, I can only imagine what I'm going to feel like by the time I go on tour [this summer]."
