Flames lit up the sky near Grizzly Flats, California, on August 23, as the Caldor Fire grew to 122,980 acres and was 11 percent contained, according to fire officials.

According to local fire authorities, 632 structures had been destroyed and 34 others were damaged by the blaze.
Evacuation orders and warnings were in effect for many parts of El Dorado and Amador counties.
