Fitbit Unveils New Charge 4 Fitness Tracker With Massive Upgrades
Fitbit took the wraps off the Charge 4 fitness tracker and the newcomer looks just like the Fitbit Charge 3, but adds some exciting features to an already great product. They include a built-in GPS, convenient Spotify playback controls, and, of course, even more tools for keeping track of your health and fitness routine.
The built-in GPS makes the Charge 4 a significantly more compact alternative to a fitness-tracking watch. The feature will allow users to get valuable insights about their outdoor workouts, including distance and pace.
The expanded fitness-tracking capabilities of the Fitbit Charge 4 are headlined by a feature dubbed Active Zone Minutes. It utilizes the tracker’s built-in heart rate sensor to deliver detailed activity tracking for each user. The feature has been developed using recommendations from the World Health Organization and the American Heart Association.
The Fitbit Charge 4 is also capable of tracking a user’s sleep patterns even better. The fitness tracker can even keep tabs on oxygen-level variability and breathing patterns, thanks to a built-in SpO2 sensor.
Of course, the Charge 4 can also automatically detect your workouts, send notifications from your smartphone, and make contactless payments, among many other things. Depending on how often you're using the GPS feature, you'll get up to a week of battery life from the gadget.
Best of all, with a sub-$150 starting price tag, the Charge 4 is just as reasonably priced as the product it replaces. The gadget is available with a black or a rosewood-colored case. Once again, there are several bands to choose from, including slightly pricier special editions.
Fitbit also expanded its Premium subscription service. The platform has a wider selection of customizable programs, guided workouts, and more sophisticated sleep-tracking tools. Fitbit Premium costs $10 per month, but new users can access a free 3-month trial.
