First 'Squid Game 2' Teaser Sees Player 456 Face New Challenges

Netflix has dropped off the much-anticipated first teaser for the second season of Squid Game, along with a number of first-look images.

The 17-second clip, which arrived as part of Netflix's larger 2024 sizzle reel, sees the storyline pick up right where it left off, with Seong Gi-hun (Player 456), depicted by Lee Jung-jae, threatening an unnamed character over the phone as he looks to uncover the person behind the deathly games.

Netflix shared the first look at the series on Instagram, confirming that it's slated to arrive "this year" in the caption.

Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk previously offered some clues for what to expect from the second installment: “I’ve seen many reactions from people about the show, but I don’t want to make season two as a response to those reactions. The philosophies I put in season one all naturally extend to season two. Instead of trying to meet the expectations of viewers, I just thought about the last moment when Gi-hun turned away from boarding the plane, and I thought about what he will do next."

"Season two is going to be about what [the] new Gi-hun is going to do and how things will unfold with this new kind of character," he added.

Netflix has not yet shared the official release date for Squid Game season two. Watch the first teaser above, and stay tuned to Hypebeast as more information becomes available.
