The flight landed with 94 personnel on board, consisting of Australian consular and immigration officers, as well as Afghan visa holders who had assisted Australian troops. Some Afghan evacuees were subsequently escorted in buses to hotels.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said that 162 people have been evacuated from the country since the Taliban seized power, and further flights are planned to increase the evacuation efforts.
"Overnight, our airlift operation continued," he said. "94 persons were transferred from AMAB (Al Minhad Air Base) to Perth overnight, where they have now entered quarantine. Further flights are of course planned."
More than 39,000 Australian military personnel served in Afghanistan in a war spanning two decades and 41 of them were killed there.
