KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 — A platform that seeks to inspire possibilities and create new experiences through media art and digital technologies, iNYALA was founded in 2019.

That same year, the first edition of iNYALA saw an interactive light art exhibition that playfully transformed space into a digital park through art installations by Malaysian artists and students.

Come November 26, iNYALA will be presenting its latest iteration of a new media art exhibition, put together by a team of digital and music artists, architects, university students and engineers.

To be held at Fahrenheit88 in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, the exhibition features 17 cutting-edge art installations in LED display cubes. It promises to be the first-of-its-kind immersive art experience in Malaysia to 'teleport' audiences to a digital world of cubes and data.

The digital artworks, composed of data and algorithms, explore the country’s journey of progress toward achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations General Assembly.

The SDGs are a comprehensive set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet and improve living conditions of the global population.

Through the curated multi-sensory art experiences, iNYALA encourages visitors to navigate between real-life data that reveals the past and present, and collectively imagine new ways to transform the world we live in.

It features 13 artworks resulting from an open call to local higher education institutions in August as well as three dedicated canvases to showcase works from international and Malaysian artists.

A synchronised hourly multimedia show, involving all 17 art installations accompanied by music, will be staged to present an interactive audio-visual experience.

Sprawled across the ground atrium of Fahrenheit88, the spatial experience is designed by internationally renowned artist and architect Jun Ong.

iNYALA has also adopted innovative approaches that prioritise sustainable exhibition design and construction with 75 per cent of the materials used for the show being recyclable materials including raw cardboards and refurbished LED panels.

The event is spearheaded by Helio Media in collaboration with Filamen and supported by Tourism Malaysia.

iNYALA will be held from November 26 to December 25. Admission is free.
