First Dates Hotel airs surprise marriage proposal in series finale
First Dates Hotel aired a surprise marriage proposal in Thursday night's series finale (June 4).
At the end of the episode, Julian popped the question to Vanessa, prompting the other couples and bar staff to gasp in shock.
"Life's about, some of it at least, is about enjoyment. And, up to this point, I thought I would mark the occasion by buying you a little present," Julian said before whipping out a little box.
"So I've got something for you in this box. What I'm trying to say is, Vanessa, I know you like sapphires, and that is a real sapphire, and I know you would like me to go down on one knee and ask you... will you marry me?"

Mercifully for Julian and everyone watching, an elated Vanessa replied: "Of course!"
Vanessa then presented the sapphire to the camera, before catastrophically dropping it and clearly having a moment of blind panic.
The couple then desperately fumbled around trying to find the stone on the floor, Fred not at all miffed that the pricey gift was very nearly lost already.
The chaos soon subsided, however, when a crew member managed to help them find it.
Having only presented Vanessa with the stone itself, Fred then took Vanessa to a jewellery shop to have the sapphire set in a ring. The couple are set to get married at some point this year. Coronavirus-permitting, of course.
Those watching at home were delighted for the newly-engaged couple.
