Since 2013, we've been watching optimistic singletons enter the First Dates restaurant in the hope of finding lasting love.

And while each episode ends with an update on the couples (some more positive than others), we've often wondered if anyone's managed to get their happy-ever-after after appearing on the show.

Well, on Wednesday's episode (October 28), we were treated to a heartwarming and tear-jerking update on some of our favourite past couples.

We got to see Ibiba and Aaron's first date as they connected on their shared family values over a romantic meal.

And we then found out that just months after their first date, they were expecting their first child together! The happy couple went on to welcome daughter Aziza and have since married.

We also got to revisit Doreen and James' first date from 2017 and found out that they are still happily together.

The couple had captured viewers' hearts after Doreen revealed on the show that her husband of 46 years had left her for a younger woman and James opened up about the death of his wife.

Posh country-loving couple Will and Fran are also still together and planning their wedding, while Adam and Dan and Hema and Ajai are both happily married.

The show managed to uplift viewers (and we all need a bit of that in 2020) with many getting emotional over the happy couples.

Congratulations to all the happy couples! You have warmed our hearts.

First Dates airs on Channel 4.
