Fireworks Mark New Year in South Korean Capital

South Koreans cheered as a fireworks display from the 123-story Lotte World Tower in Seoul marked the beginning of the new year at midnight on Sunday, January 1.

The New Year’s Eve festivities in Seoul also included an annual bell-tolling ceremony that was put on hiatus for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Around 100,000 were expected to attend the ceremony at 11:30 pm at the Bosingak Pavilion in central Seoul, according to local media. Credit: @song_e__1000 via Storyful
