Fires Spark in Southern California Amid High Wind Warnings

Smoke was seen in Irvine, California, as multiple fires sparked amid strong winds on Monday, October 26, officials said.

The National Weather Service of San Diego issued a red flag warning for the region, warning of “critical fire weather” prompted by strong gusts and “extremely” dry conditions in southern California.

The Irvine Police Department said two fires sparked north of Irvine, and smoke was visible in the area on Monday. One of the fires has been named the Silverado Fire and was 50 acres as of Monday morning, according to fire officials.
