Firefighters Demonstrate Danger of Deep Frying Turkey
Pennsylvania’s Harrisburg Bureau of Fire demonstrated the danger of frying a turkey unsafely in a video released by the Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner, just in time for Thanksgiving.
The footage shows a firefighter in full gear holding an uncooked turkey at the end of a pole and gently dropping it into a fryer. Oil splashes out of the appliance, and it quickly bursts into flames.
The commissioner’s office warned against frying with too much oil, not defrosting the bird thoroughly, or leaving a fryer unattended.
“Don’t fry inside a home or garage, or on a porch or deck,” they said. Credit: Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner via Storyful
