Firefighters Work to Contain Wind-Whipped Wildfire in Santa Barbara

Firefighters said they were continuing to “mop up hot spots and secure containment” following a wind-whipped vegetation fire that forced evacuations and threatened homes in Santa Barbara on Thursday night, May 20, local media reported.

Santa Barbara County Fire had said the fire was 20 acres and threatened multiple commercial properties and homes, but later revised the estimate of the fire to 10 acres.

Firefighters said they were investigating the cause of the fire, which left two homes damaged. No homes were destroyed, and no injuries were reported.
