Firefighters Battle Idaho's Fast-Growing Dixie and Jumbo Fires

Firefighters in Idaho worked to control the fast-growing Dixie and Jumbo fires in the Nez Perce – Clearwater National Forests near the town of Dixie on Tuesday, July 13.

On Saturday, July 10, the Dixie fire covered just under 13,000 acres, reports said. By Wednesday it had ballooned to over 20,000 acres with zero percent containment. The nearby Jumbo fire grew by 77 acres on Tuesday and covered 1,138 acres as of approximately 11:30 am on Wednesday, officials said.
