Fire Destroys Roof of Luxury Hungarian Hotel

The roof of the four-star Borostyan Med Hotel in Nyiradony, a small town in eastern Hungary, was destroyed by fire on the night of October 17-18, Hungary’s National Directorate General for Disaster Management said.

The directorate said no one was hurt in the incident, as all 85 guests as well as staff managed to get out. However, the entire extent of the roof, across 4,000 square meters, was ablaze.

Firefighters also rescued “high-value medical and diagnostic equipment” from a private clinic at the hotel.

The cause of the fire was being investigated. According to the latest statement, the firefighters managed to put out the flames by the early hours of October 18. Credit: Nora Papp-Kunkli/Directorate General for Disaster Management via Storyful
