Fire Department Rescues Dozens of Fishermen From Icy Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota

Fire department workers rescued 26 fishermen in Duluth, Minnesota, on February 9, towing them in from the icy waters of Lake Superior.

Footage taken by Kate Van Daele, the city’s Public Information Officer, shows a fire department boat bringing fishermen in from the lake.

According to a press release issued by the city of Duluth, a “large group of fishermen had been fishing in individual fish houses when the ice that they had been on separated from shore,” with the 26 anglers rescued by the fire department within an hour of the original water emergency call.
