Fire Crews Mobilized to Fight Northern California Dixie Fire

More than 5,100 personnel worked to contain the 208,000-acre Dixie fire burning across Butte and Plumas counties in Northern California on July 27 after it merged with the Fly fire.

Members of the Nevada County Strike Team were demobilized from the Tamarack fire and reassigned to the Dixie fire, Peardale Chicago Park (PCP) Fire said on Twitter on Tuesday. The strike team is made up of firefighters from PCP Fire as well as Penn Valley Fire, North San Juan Fire, Nevada County Consolidated Fire, and Nevada City Fire.

As of Tuesday morning, the fire had grown to 208,206 acres (about 325 square miles) and was 23 percent contained, fire officials said. Credit: Peardale Chicago Park Fire via Storyful
