Fire Crews Battle Caldor Fire Growing Across El Dorado County, California

Fire crews continued to battle the growing Caldor Fire that had burned 106,562 acres (about 167 square miles) in El Dorado County, California, as of Monday, August 23.

According to Cal Fire, over 400 single residences and commercial properties had been destroyed, and 17,488 structures were threatened by the fire as of Monday.

The United States Forest Service warned on Monday that eight communities in California and Nevada were facing unhealthy, very unhealthy, or hazardous air quality as a result of the fire.
