Filmmaker Alan Dennis & TV Makeup Artist Gabbi Pascua Launch ASOB Media With Doc Series ‘A Study On Beauty’
EXCLUSIVE: Doc maker Alan Dennis and Creative Arts Emmy winner Gabbi Pascua have launched ASOB Media.
The production business launches following the pair’s collaboration on doc series A Study on Beauty, which taps into Pascua’s background as an award-winning make-up artist on CBS series The Talk.

A Study On Beauty: Through Smoke, which will be the first doc from the A Study On… brand, filmed in a the small French town of Grasse in the Côte-d’Azur, near Cannes, where it uncovers the history of perfume.
ASOB plans to launch A Study on Beauty: Through Smoke in 2025. No distribution plan has been unveiled yet.
“As a passionate beauty professional and storyteller, our story, Through Smoke is the most authentic representation of the heart of our vision, from concept to interviews and all those who helped bring this to life,” the pair said in a statement. “The true history of perfume has left us a united tale of beauty, ashes and a sense of kinship through smoke.”
Dennis added: “We set out to create a documentary series around the world about the unique expressions of beauty across different cultures, how beauty brings us together and transforms, and what it can teach us about ourselves and each other. We started in France, Japan and the Philippines, and each place and people revealed something incredible about beauty.”
Dennis has worked with major music stars such as John Legend, Jennifer Lopez, John Mayer, Meghan Trainor, Demi Lovato, Sia, and Diplo on music videos and short-form content, and began in feature films on Justin Barber horror thriller Phoenix Forgotten, which Wes Ball and Ridley Scott produced.
He directed What We Share, a feature doc about Jeopardy! announcer Kelly Miyahara’s cancer journey. The TV personality, her sister and mother were all diagnosed with the disease within 18 months of each other due to a hereditary gene. Doc is currently in post-production and has featured on morning news programs.
Pascua won two Creative Arts Emmys for her worked as a make-up artist on The Talk. She has served as a makeup artist working with major television networks and brands such as Burberry, Chanel, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tom Ford and Versace. She has now moved into documentary making and focused on stories that shine the light on beauty stories that have shaped generations.
