29 Jul – Although Hong Kong film companies would usually begin production on Lunar New Year movies in July and August, it looks like none of them have started doing so this year.
As reported on Mingpao, sources revealed that due to the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in Hong Kong, many studios have decided to halt movie projects for next year's Lunar New Year slot, and that the only production that has begun - the Carlos Chan starrer, "Soon to be Wed", has also postponed filming due to the situation.
On the other hand, films like "The Rescue", "Vanguard", and "Leap", which was originally scheduled to be released this year but was delayed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, may be filling the said slot next year.
On the other hand, Michelle Wai, who stars in "Soon to be Wed", revealed that she is currently waiting for Emperor Motion Pictures to make arrangements, adding that she has no clue as to when work will resume.
"Personal safety is the most important, so I support the company's decision," she said.
