KULAI, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- Fifty-six teams representing the respective State Legislative Assembly seats in the state will compete in the 2019 Johor Consensus Games beginning today until tomorrow.
Perling State Assemblyman Cheo Yee How said the organisation of the two-day annual championship aimed to foster closer ties between the people through health activities.
Every team will have 20 athletes for two events namely futsal and football.
The champion for both events will take home RM2,000 together with a trophy and accompanying medal.
“We believe that sports is not only an activity or program for health, but a most effective channel to unite the multi-racial community in our country.
“It is hoped the 2019 Johor Consensus Games could become a medium to bring closer solidarity between all the races which is the main agenda of the state government,” he said in his speech at the Opening Ceremony of the 2019 Johor Consensus Games at Indahpura Sports City, here today.
