Spectacular footage caught an up-close look as lava flowed from Sicily’s Mount Etna on May 31, following its most recent eruption.
The video, filmed by Catania-based photographer Giuseppe Distefano, who runs an account called Etna Walk, shows the molten lava coursing from the volcano.
The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Etnean Observatory, announced in a press release that two effusive vents had opened on the side of the southeast crater.
“The effusive rate at the time of the observations was low and the flow moved inside the Valle del Bove in the direction of Monte Simone,” it reported. Credit: Etna Walk via Storyful
